Cruise in the Canaries

Just after some advice using a Lebara sim while cruising around the Canary Islands... Will I be able to use roaming allowance whilst in port? And do I need to do anything to avoid charges whilst at sea, or will it just not work? Only planning to use to keep in contact with home via WhatsApp/email etc
