    Hi everyone!

Screen time is something a lot of people are thinking about more lately, especially when it comes to kids. There’s been a lot about it in the news, for example this article in the Guardian from January suggesting that toddlers with very high screen use may develop smaller vocabularies.

It’s not just kids. My own screen time has crept up a lot over the past few years and I hear the same from my friends.

One thing that helped me recently was actually checking my screen time stats on my phone. Most smartphones now show:
    • Total daily screen time
    • Which apps you use the most
    • How often you pick up your phone
    • etc. etc.

It was a bit of a reality check… mine is mostly news apps and (especially) Reddit, which I tend to scroll without thinking. A couple of small things that have helped me reduce it (at least a little, so far):
    • Turning off some notifications that aren’t essential
    • Trying not to check my phone first thing in the morning or just before bed
    • Leaving my phone in the other room when I’m with my family
Still a work in progress though!

    How about you?
Have you checked your screen time recently?
Are you sensing it creeping up?
What’s your most-used app? (just curious)

Any tips for reducing screen time for yourself or for kids?
Would love to hear what’s worked for you! Let me know your thoughts in the comments...
