How do you convert from sim to esim

I contacted customer service and they gave me a link to a transition site. You fill in details and get the eSIM delivered on a date to suit you. BUT the e Sim is on a different number and you may lose connection for a few hours while this happens. Also if you have an iPhone you need to reset the “my number” in settings. I did it and now OK. If you use WiFi calling keep checking the setting as well. Some users have said this doesn’t stick on.
