On the 23rd of May I received a call by someone claiming to be calling from Lebara/Vodafone. The first thing they asked me is if I am having issues with internet and I answered yes. They told me that’s because I am on the 4G SIM and they can offer me the 5G SIM with unlimited 5G data, unlimited calls and texts, and 500 international minutes for £7/month on a 12-month monthly rolling contract.
Told them I am interested, they asked for my email address to send me the deal before passing me to the team that would take my details. I found it strange they knew I am a Lebara customer but didn’t know any of my details. Typical cold calling call centres outside of UK that bought my data from a provider of course.
When I received the email (with all the typical Lebara declarations) I noticed the email although it said “Lebara UK Limited” it was actually from “[email protected]”. I told the person I was talking to that I don’t feel safe to proceed, asked them to prove where they are calling from and what the email address should say and they had no idea.
she then started pushing and saying completely ignorant and unprofessional things like “come on seriously what do you think we will do with your details?”
Did I miss on a great deal or dodged a scam? Where can I get an offer like that?
