Hello everyone! I recently switched my mobile network provider from O2 to Lebara Mobile. While the service has been great overall, I immediately ran into a frustrating technical issue: my Wi-Fi Calling wasn't working properly, and I couldn't connect to the London Underground free Wi-Fi.
I contacted Lebara customer service for help. While the agents were very polite and gentle, they weren't quite equipped to handle this specific, deeper technical issue and couldn't guide me to a working solution.
After doing quite a bit of research online and testing different settings, I finally uncovered the exact trick to get everything working perfectly. I’m sharing this today because I know it will help save time for anyone else experiencing the same issue. Below, I’ve put together a step-by-step guide for both physical SIM and eSIM users, along with a video tutorial for Wi-Fi Calling setup and screenshots for the Tube Wi-Fi settings.

Part 1: Activating Wi-Fi Calling on Android

To ensure you don't lose signal while underground or in low-coverage areas, you need to make sure Wi-Fi Calling is fully provisioned on your device.https://www.youtube.com/shorts/SJpOwG_MCHg

Part 2: How to Connect to London Underground Wi-Fi

Connecting to the Tube network requires changing how your phone authenticates with the station's wireless access points. Lebara runs on the Vodafone infrastructure, meaning you need to target the Vodafone network profile. Wi-Fi name : VodafoneWi-Fi

    1.Select the Network:
Step 1. Turn on your Wi-Fi settings, scan for available networks, and tap on Vodafone Wi-Fi
    2.Scroll to Advanced Settings:
Step 2. On the configuration screen that pops up, scroll down slightly past the "Auto reconnect" toggle to view the advanced credential fields.
    3.Change the EAP Method:
Step 3. Look for the option labeled EAP method (by default, this usually says PEAP). Tap on it to open the selection menu.
    4.Select AKA Authentication:
Step 4 .From the dropdown list, select AKA (if AKA is not visible on your specific device, select SIM instead).
    5.Connect to the Network:
Step 5. As soon as you select AKA, the manual "Identity" and "Password" input boxes will automatically disappear because your phone will now read credentials directly from your SIM. Tap Connect at the bottom of the screen. Note: This workaround works flawlessly whether you are utilizing a modern eSIM or a traditional physical plastic SIM card. Once these settings are saved, your Android device will automatically log into the free transit Wi-Fi network every single time you step onto a London Underground platform. Safe travels and happy browsing!
