Hi Martin
I am so sorry, I did not explain very well... I am in my mid-seventies and find these things a bit difficult to undertake without the assistance of a young person! My current contract is with Vodaphone but I would like to buy my new plan from Lebara. My Vodaphone contract ends on 15 February but I will still have the service for that day. I will not need any coverage during the night of the 15th so perhaps you can tell me if I need to join Lebara on 15 February or (preferably) in the early morning of 16 February?
Kind regards
Gillanna

No problem at all Gillanna! I'll help you through the process.

I have a couple of questions..
1. are you planning to bring your current number from Vodafone to Lebara or are you going with the new number that comes with the new SIM.
2. Do you know which plan you're going to get with Lebara yet?

Hi Martin
Yes, I would like to keep my old number please and as for the plan, I am a pensioner and live alone on a very low income so I would say the cheapest... I don't make a lot of phone calls, I use WhatsApp to talk to my friends and family, its more about feeling safe and connected.
I really appreciate your help.
Kind regards
Gillanna

Great thanks for the additional detail Gillanna!
For your new Lebara plan there are quite a few options however if you're only going to be using the plan for messaging apps like WhatsApp then the 5GB plan should be sufficient and will cost £5 a month. If you will be using the Internet, especially for watching videos or downloading content then you might need more than 5G.
Lebara offer 30 day plans which will renew every month, or 12 month plans which are a little cheaper but have you locked in for a year. Click here to see the available plans. Once your new SIM arrives you can follow the instructions in the packaging to activate the SIM. This will start your plan with Lebara and activate your new number.
The next step is to transfer your number over from Vodafone. To do this you'll need to request a PAC code from Vodafone. Details on how to do this can be found here. The PAC code can then be provided to Lebara, submitting the PAC code will end your Vodafone contract so it's best to do this close to the end of your current plan, I'd suggest speaking to Vodafone to see what the best time to use the PAC code is.
I generally takes a day for the old number to transfer to your new Lebara plan and from there you're good to go!
Please let me know if you need help with any of this and you can always give customer support a shout if you need assistance with the process.
