R icon is showing next to mobile signal strength

Hoping someone can help, I've noticed today that an R icon has appeared next to my mobile signal strength icon. I did a quick Google and its apparently something to do with Lebara renting space on the network and it appears as roaming. My roaming is turned off. The icon won't go away and now I've noticed that when using certain apps, like my gym app, the it's picking up my location as outside the UK. Can someone help?

The "R" next to your signal strength bars indicates that your phone is roaming. This means your device has left your primary network operator's coverage area and is temporarily using a different, partner network to keep you connected. If your apps are showing as outside the uk you would appear to be roaming even though you say roaming is turned off. make sure you don't have a vpn connected and reboot your phone, a proper full reboot not just a power off

Thanks. Think it might have been a VPN issue. It's sorted itself now.
