Calling UK when abroad

I’m abroad and not able to call UK number the local network says the number is wrong I tired using 0044 UK international code and without it aswell both time same message
Can someone advice if it is possible to call UK when you are on roaming in Asia?

got to dial plus sign + instead of 00 in the dialling code and the call connects
