Can I transfer plan I have to this number then change this SIM to old number?

I lost my old phone with SIM in it obviously so have bought new SIM but want to retain old number and transfer plan to this SIM

It would be easier to just request a replacement SIM EliotB1. That way you'll get a new SIM with your existing number and plan already linked. Details on the process can be found here.
