    Hi everyone,

Be honest, how often do you reach for your phone without even thinking about it?

Phones help us with everything from work and travel plans to staying in touch and shopping, but a lot of us are also noticing our screen time creeping up (and what that can do to focus and relationships).

We’d love to hear from you: roughly how much time do you spend on your phone each day and what do you mostly use it for (messages, social media, work, streaming, shopping, something else)?

Vote in our poll to tell us how much time you spend on your phone each day and leave a comment to share what you mostly use it for (and your top 1–2 apps).

Tend to use my phone more now for emails and browsing rather than the tablet I used previously.

Due to a disability, I have no other options than to use my phone 4-6 hrs daily but some days when out and about it could even exceed that. Moreover, in today’s world everything is done digitally via a smartphone and in my view it is a much needed investment to access many services when life moves at express speeds!!

It is great to have on hand for quickly checking something, but any serious browsing or admin I use the tablet or laptop

Due to being disabled, it is easier for me to use my phone rather than a laptop/ipad. Mainly for emails, browsing and playing the occassional game

Going by screen time on my iPhone I average just over 4 hrs a day. I mostly use my phone for catching up on news, listening to radio/podcasts and also for general browsing.

As I'm currently unemployed I spend a lot of time on job sites and checking emails. I also use life360 to keep track of the family.

That's very admirable Daleslady!, do you have a smart phone or are you on one of the versions that only do calls and messages?

Is that for convenience Chriswd, I know tablets can be a bit of a pain to cary around at times!

evacueeseam0b I agree, in todays world it's almost mandatory to have your phone on at all times. I've even been to some places to eat where you can't even order without a QR code or an app.

I use it mainly for phone calls , emails and text so an hour or so at most. My main app is probably my fitness app everything else is as and when I need to do or look at something.

Martin I'm a computer person. I much prefer to get stuff done on the computer rather than on my phone. The phone is very useful for recording my bike rides - I use the MapMyRide app. I also use it to listen to podcasts, although it is my practice to download the podcasts onto computer, where I can boost the volume when appropriate, and I can edit out some of the ads and trailers - I then copy the resulting files onto my phone. Of course, I am not actually looking at my phone most of the time whilst listening to podcasts, or whilst I am doing my bike rides.

Being stuck at home most the time, I will surf the net and social media on the phone rather than put the PC on.
