Until last week I would have recommended Lebara. My son lost his phone a month ago and we ordered a new SIM. We have not been able to activate it because the activation SMS message does not arrive. I called support and this is where things went seriously downhill.
The actual telephone connection to the support agent was terrible. There were frequent 10-20 second gaps between responses during which I was totally confused as to what was happening. The support agent neither spoke nor understood English adequately. He explained there was a temporary issue with sending SMS messages and to try tomorrow. I said it's been a month and we've tried multiple times.
The he asked me to read the ICC ID off the back of the SIM card. I read the number off the back of the SIM card and he insisted that wasn't the ICC ID. I said well that's the only number I have. He kept insisting he needed the ICC ID and I kept repeating that I don't have it. (I have never heard of an ICC ID before.)
Eventually he said he'd send another new SIM. That was a week ago and no new SIM has arrived. Meanwhile you're still charging me a monthly fee for a SIM I can't use.
I am never calling your support again. If the new SIM doesn't arrive and/or doesn't work we are going back to giffgaff. They are more expensive but you can actually talk to somebody who speaks English and doesn't demand information I don't have.
